Learning About the Art of Dressing

I was so excited to cover the relatively new boutique in Mamaroneck, ‘The Art of Dressing.’ This was an extremely fun piece to do–not because it was at a boutique (although that didn’t hurt), but because it was so much more than that.

The owner, Tonia Tagliaferro, was a very inspiring woman. Not only does she run a boutique, but she also offers classes to help women gain confidence. Her store is split in half; part store and part stage-floor.

Many women tend to ‘give up’ on their appearance as schedules get busy. Tonia helps women come together and help them retrain their brain to get a better attitude about themselves. Confidence is key.

Clients come to her with their clothes not knowing what to expect. They go through the clothes together and Tonia tells them if they are wearing the wrong sizes (whether it’s too big or too small).

Her words are sincere and inspirational.

My Eataly Experience

Photo via Google

Reporting for 3W Magazine, I covered a fun segment on Eataly in New York. I spoke with various departments, where they gave me the inside scoop of what their role is and what it’s like to work at Eataly.

Did I mention that I got to watch fresh mozzarella be made into mozzarella balls?

The Cheesemonger talked about the various cheeses and meats that are imported from Italy. There’s also monthly classes that you can take.

The head baker also spoke to me about the process of bread making which involves ordering fresh flour every week. They are also responsible for putting bread on everyone’s plate at the restaurants in Eataly.

Hungry yet?

Ashley’s Closet

Today I spent hours trying to fix up my neglected blog. It was a blog that I started for a journalism class and once the semester came to an end, so did my blog. I made a vow that I was going to stick with it, but it’s easy to get off task. My blog was originally called ‘Dorm Reform,’ in which I concentrated on cheap and affordable ways to decorate your dorm or apartment. Since I was in college and living through the experience, I thought it was very suiting that I wrote about something like that–not to mention I enjoyed doing crafts.

When I went on it today, it looked so sad and plain. I told myself I was going to fix it up. I renamed it to ‘Ashley’s Closet’ and I plan on continuing the topic of dorms and apartments, however I am also going to write about fashion as well. Not everything is going to be “Do It Yourself” stuff, but I am going to continue looking for affordable ways to decorate and shop smart.

So here it is, my new and improved blog:
